The journal was founded in 2007 and originally was called "News of Southern Federal University. Pedagogical Sciences". It was a peer-reviewed publication of the Pedagogical Institute of Southern Federal University. The editorial board included Doctors of Sciences, corresponding members and academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences from Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Maykop, Tiraspol.

A full-text online version was provided on the Internet. The information openness of the journal contributed to the formation of like-minded teaching teams for the search, support and development of new ideas, scientific and information support for innovative processes, and monitoring the progress of their implementation.

The journal "News of Southern Federal University. Pedagogical Sciences" was a tool for the developing an integrated scientific and information space.

Since 2018, the journal "The World of Academia: culture, education" has been published in an online format. The high quality of studies is provided not only by the researchers of the Southern Federal District but also by leading researchers of universities and scientific organizations in other regions and abroad.
